Before this question can be answered a few questions should be answered.
-Why is the tree being planted? Shade, fruit, seasonal color, screen
-What is the size and location of the planting site? Large, medium or small space. Overhead or underground facilities. Are there other trees.
-How much maintenance are you willing to do? pruning, watering, fertilize.
Trees make our surrounding pleasant. A large tree supplies shade in summer, but allows sun to warm the house in winter. Some trees have beautiful flowers, leaves and delicious fruit. Trees and shrubs with fruit could be used to attract wildlife, or for eating. Trees filter out pollutants and add oxygen to the air.
Choosing the right form can reduce maintenance time and money. When choosing a tree, think of the mature size of the tree.
The condition of the site are important.
-soil drainage (wet or very dry)
-is the site windy
-What is your hardiness zone? Do you have a Microclimate in this location?
-the amount of sunlight is important when choosing a tree or shrub for a space.
You might want to choose a more disease resistant plant. Often times, native plants are more disease resistant. If cared for properly and the tree is in good health, it can more easly resist diseases.
