Light: Bright light to full sun but will tolerate lower light levels, without blooming.

Water: Water thoroughly with lukewarm water and allow the top third of the soil to dry before watering again. Watering will be less frequent during the colder months when light levels are reduced.

Fertilizer: A full strength soluble fertilizer, applied every 2 weeks in the spring and weekly in the summer only. Will not need fertilizer in fall or winter. Over fertilization will lead to excessive foliage with little or no flowering.

Temperature: 18-24°C during the day and 10-12­°C at night. Prefer moderate relative humidity, around 60%, which may require daily misting or a humidity tray during the dry winter months. If placed outside during the summer, bring them indoors when the temperatures begin to drop below 15°C.

Tips: These plants enjoy a summer outside. Gradually increase light, so to not sunburn the foliage. Wash and rinse before returning indoors. Bring these plants inside before the first frost. Keeps leaves clean and dust free.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets

Native to South Africa, this plant's unique flower, resembling a bright white bird in flight, is the source of the common name.
