West Coast Seeds Hakurei Turnip Seeds
These gourmet turnips are smooth-skinned with tidy tops. Japanese breeding produces uniform, globe-shaped roots with snow-white skin and crisp texture. Grow short rows often so the fresh roots and tops are ready spring to fall. 40 days, F1.

Timing: Direct sow short rows from early April to end of August.
Seeding: Sow thinly, 5mm -1cm (1/4-1/2") deep, in rows 30-45cm (12-18") apart. Thin to 10-15cm (4-6") apart.
Growing: Amend the soil with 1 cup of balanced organic fertilizer under each 3m (10') of row. Lose soil and regular watering will give you maximum fast growth. Do not let them sit in the ground any longer than necessary, because root maggots will destroy them. Plant turnip seeds in a sunny area of the garden. Sow short rows frequently, as you would radishes. Pull turnips from the ground as soon as they have sized up adequately.
