West Coast Seeds Ping Tung Long Eggplant Seeds
Named for Ping Tung, Taiwan, the town of its origin. The fruits are light purple from 30-45cm (12-18") long, and only 3cm (1 1/4") in diameter. Hardy, disease resistant plants bear heavy yields - as many as twenty fruits per plant! 65-90 days, OP.

Timing: Start indoors 6 weeks before transplanting in early summer. Use bottom heat to speed germination.
Seeding: Sow around 1cm (1/2") deep, and keep moist. Use individual peat pots to reduce root disturbance when transplanting.
Growing: Using a clear plastic cloche or floating row cover will help growth by increasing warmth. Cool temperatures increase leafy growth, but no fruit will set. Plastic mulch laid over the prepared and fertilized soil for a week before transplanting will increase the temperature and promote better fruit set. Grow like peppers, but keep in mind that eggplants need even more warmth before transplanting in early summer. If the temperature is below 21°C (70°F) the fruit may not set.
