Summer/fall cabbage. An oblate flat-growing hybrid kown as KY Cross. This popular variety has really nice flavour and the best heat tolerance in heads that average 1.5kg but up to 2.5kg (6 lbs) in warm summers with good fertility. 55 days, F1.

Timing: For summer cabbage, start indoors or outdoors from early spring to early summer. Harvest in 2 to 3 months. For fall cabbage, start indoors or outdoors, late spring to early summer. Harvest in 3 to 4 months. For winter cabbage, start indoors or outdoors, late spring to early summer. Harvest all winter in mild winter areas.
Seeding: Sow seeds 5mm (1/4") deep in sterile starting mix. Transplant 45-60cm (18-24") apart in row 60-90cm (24-36") apart.
Growing: Cabbage plants prefer well-drained, fertile soil with a lot of organic matter, and a pH of 6.5 to 7. Dig 1/4 cup of balanced organic fertilizer beneath each transplant. Top dress with more if growth seems sluggish. Use lightweight row cover to prevent damage from insects.
